On Bobby Kotick (gross!). Guest commentary from a mentor with a terrifying bite.

(At left: "I'll buy your Spacewar! for this dawer and a cupcake! It's a great deal! Twust me!" A fictional post-teething Bobby Kotick has already mastered arbitration and the art of pairing ugly ties with douschey sweater vests.)
I've never been shy about my cosmic hatred for Activision CEO Bobby Kotick. Call me a cynic, but my reasoning's always been sound. The goblin doesn't care about the industry. I do, very much so. Where he only sees dolla dolla bills...uh ya'll, I see endless potential for player interaction, storytelling, etc. Ya know, cool, and useful stuff.
Kotick recently fired off a plethora of asshole remarks while speaking at the Deutsche Bank Securities Technology Conference in San Francisco. This shit's common for Bobbo, as are my my vindictive responses. But before I unload my text-based armory in a separate and lengthy post, please enjoy some (all too brief) guest commentary.
I extracted this from a recent email exchange I had with my friend and mentor Rod Smith:
"...where the mouth movement and facial animation of game characters is good enough to establish a compelling emotional attachment from the player. "
"Establish a compelling emotional attachment from the player?" Learn American, fuckwit, or English...Sanskrit--some language, any language. Since when the fuck do you "establish from." Which, again, brings us to the herd of wooly mammoths in gaming's closet, to Ebert, and to Blow: one in 50 games--and that's being generous--qualify as "art." As for narrative, which i can't help but think plays a bigger role in "establishing a compelling emotional attachment from the" fucktard/loser/sucker/self-deluded clown, i'd estimate rhat a weekly minimum of 25 novels with narrative as strong as MSG4's see publication in North America alone, and 10 (minimum) with way more story muscle. Latest case in point: last week, I read Jedediah Berry's Manual of Detection and it made my brains run out my fucking earholes.
As for Bobbsy Nodick, he'd be perfect for Bainwol's gig if not for his political affiliation. Unless they end up unexpectedly selling their assets to the Mafiya Triads, or some other kindred-spirit organization, the RIAA'll almost surely tap a Dem next time the CEO position opens up.
Bobbo got owned.

I enjoyed your blog. It’s easy to read, the content is good, and you’re an educated writer unlike most of the blogs I come across when searching on this topic. I will check back in the future and see if you have more articles. Thanks for posting this, I appreciate the information and the effort you put into your site.Home Security Houston
