"VALIDATE ME!" Kotaku takes a self-indulgent look back at PS3 Slim rumor forecasting

"Looking Back: Our Verdicts on PS3 Slim rumors" reads a headline currently on the front page of Kotaku.

Grossly self-indulgent, right? (Yeah, I didn't bother editing out the patriotic red, blue, and gray "shipping included" truck.)

And the shit continues... First paragraph, second sentence: "The PlayStation 3 Slim generated more rumors than any other product in recent memory, dating back to the first one we reported in February of 2008."

Thanks, Kotaku. Thanks for reminding me. You're now the pinnacle of journalism because, by your guesstimation, you reported the story first.

The rest of the piece features Kotaku jerking off (in red and blue text!) to their own successes atpublishing four and a halfPS3 Slim rumors (out of seven) that turned out correct.

Wearing rubber gloves I managed to snag this one:

Would the PS3 Slim be ready by July?
The rumor: Taiwanese site UDN stated that Sony had contracts with two companies to produce the PS3 slim, and that it would be ready by July.
Our verdict:Likely Correct. While the PS3 Slim isn't being released to the public until September, in order to have units ready to ship to media outlets, the systems surely needed to be ready by July.

That's games motherfuckin' journalism, dawg.
